Robert Gwilym Davies was born in 1915, son of John David Davies and Polly Davies (nee Lloyd). He was educated at Llangollen County School, and later worked for Monsanto. Gwilym Davies married Gertrude E Roberts, September Quarter 1936 in Wrexham, and they had two children, one born about 1938 and a second born about 1940.
