Henry Arthur Cholmondeley, was born March Quarter 1910 in Holywell, son of Bernard Arthur Cholmondeley and Mary Elizabeth Cholmondeley (nee Evans), but spent his early years in Chester. He lost his father when he was 15 and went to live with his grandmother, Mrs Evans, 55 Benjamin St Wrexham, and started to work for Aston & Sons Furnishings, where he remained until enlisting in 1940. Henry married Mary E Giffiths in December quarter 1935 at St John Mostyn St, Llandudno. Their daughter Pamela A Cholmondeley was born June Quarter 1936, in Wrexham. 

"The news of the death on active service of Corporal Henry Arthur Chomoneley, R.A.S.C., which occurred on June 15, gave Llangollen and district a great shock. Deceased was in his 33rd year, and is survived by his wife, and young daughter aged seven." - from Henry's obituary
